Iconic wedding in Orpington

Sophie & Sam tied the knot on a sunny Friday afternoon last June in St Nicholas Church, located in the Chislehurst Conservation Area in South East London. 80 of their closest family members and friends gathered in this impressive grade II listed building to witness their union.

Sophie looked stunning in her timeless, slim fitting, three quarter length Vampire’s Wife dress made from iridescent silver silk metallic chiffon. Her bouquet consisted of naturally arranged pale and electric blue delphiniums, a bold protea and roses balanced with soft eucalyptus.

Sam’s Buttonhole was made of a single Westminster rose, olive and thistle tied with the same colour ribbon as his Sophie’s bouquet.

The bride’s four bridesmaids wore cyan dresses with eye-catching flower crowns composed of an eclectic selection of complementary blue and orange blooms including roses, thistles and lysianthus all tied at the back with a delicate cream silk ribbon. They each had a posy of mixed foliage and blue delphiniums.

The reception later took place in the heart of Orpington’s high street, what once used to be a general post office, Orpington GPO, now a bar & kitchen part of the vibrant Framptons group, owned by the groom and his business partner Tom. The venue’s high celling allowed for wild and impressive hanging pampas grass clouds over banquet-style tables softly contrasting with the clean lines and industrial feel of the building. These beautiful show-stopping dried arrangements were mirrored at the venue’s entrance by two large pedestals on slick metal structures framing the front door.

An elegant blackboard tableplan was propped up on a vintage wooden easel and topped with a delicate floral cluster matching the bridal party’s flowers.

On the tables, small glass bottles were ornated with a mix of pale and electric blue delphiniums for a minimalist look. These were paired with brass candlesticks holders and cream tapered candles giving a warm atmosphere to the evening celebrations. Each guest was gifted a small succulent in a terracotta pot as wedding favour which doubled up as a table decoration, how clever.

This special day was brilliantly documented by the talented Charlie & Hector at We Heart Pictures. Below is a curated selection of pictures from the day’s decor and the happy couple, enjoy!

THEIR WORDS

Sky did the flowers for our wedding and they were truly breath-taking. We had so many people asking us about them, the design, colour schemes and display were absolutely magical. Sky was so patient with us (our wedding was postponed four times due to the pandemic!) Sky is the most talented, creative florist you could ever meet, who is a delight to deal with and despite her work being the best around, she's brilliant value for money too. I would recommend Sky and her talented team in a heartbeat for any occasion, she makes everything feel special and look beautiful.
